Jazz, Jazz, Jazz!
03.16.10

Spring is here in the Northwest and it’s time to get out of the woodshed and start swinging!  I’m really psyched about a bunch of new jazz projects I’ve been working on.  Drummer Casey Anderson leads the KC Jones Quartet with myself, Akila Fields on Piano and Noah Bernstein on Tenor.  We play straight ahead and groove, and approach the standard repertoire with a playful irreverence for a fresh take on Americas’ music.  Catch us out in Hood River, or around Portland.

Next up is a piano trio with keyboard virtuoso Asher Fulero and the inimitable drum stylist James West.  We recently played on Oregon Music Live here in Portland - look for sporadic transmissions from YouTube of this material.  We avoid traditional jazz, favoring contemporary composers and free improvisation.  We continue working in the studio, preparing for a live debut in the near future.

More jazz and other music is in the works, come on down the the Tea Zone / Camellia Lounge on Tuesday nights and be a part of the ever expanding Pdx Jazz scene.
